Farmageddon?

A local farm co-op transports raw milk to consumers from a regulated farm in South Carolina and faces not only total confiscation but felony charges for doing so. This is where our Dept of Ag and FDA is focusing their efforts? Hmmm. I guess the Dairy Mafia doesn't want to lose any market share. I hope the Feedlot Cattle Fascists don't start lobbying against grass fed hormone free livestock. But remember, cigarettes and liquor are still totally legal, so party on. I know I feel so much better that this raw milk is off the street.

As the season continues---

The crops are changing but Mill Gap Farm, still has things coming up even in this early Autumn! We've got some new vendors coming as well! The Little Red Hen has left the nest, but we wish her LOTS of luck in her new venture at Auburn Avenue Market. Coming Holiday 09!

Goodness Gracious Granola will have a table this week with a full line up of their amazing (the best I've had really) granola.

A NEW bakery also...signing on with promise of mini quiche and SCONES...come see how they compare!

And next week...The Cookie Studio. Which if you haven't been, is a pile of deliciousness on College Ave in Decatur next to the Avondale Marta station in front of Mama Soap...our other favorite vendor who will be joining us next year---as she's too busy with her new shop! So keep supporting all these great entrepreneurial start ups...and tell your friends about StudioPlex market so we'll keep it going as long as it thrives!

See ya Saturday!

To Market To Market

The thing is this: Don't panic. The Little Red Hen Bakeshop is going on summer vacation next week...so she won't be there selling out of Blueberry Scones by 930am. I'm going to try and convince her that WE can sell them for her, but I think she may be leary of shrinkage. But she'll be back with her beautiful stuff on Aug. 15. Even bakers need a vackay.

Who is coming next week? Mama Soaps and Candles will be back, and Ziegler's Succulent Man Eating Plants are back...okay, they are just bug eating carnivorous but you can't find this stuff at Home Depot's garden center!

Above and Beyond is blogging about what to do with 500 tomato plants and nothing to wear...and Mill Gap Farms had the most delicious teeny tiny purple corn that you can saute right in the husk...I did last night and put on salmon and it was the sweetest condiment ever. The Mercantile and Danneman's are baguettes and coffee for a French breakfast side by side and even Atlanta food critic Christiane Lauterbach was there stealing a crusty loaf. If you can't trust a Frenchwoman about bread choices...I mean don't just take it from me!

Cafe of Life Chiropractic brought a massage therapist this week and they were right next to Heather Ramirez and her Alchemy Card Readings...the middle of the market is starting to turn out body and mind participants and it all goes together with a holistic life...good food, good people, good community. Thanks again to the CityChurch Eastside volunteers for all their good will and help!

More vendor updates later in the week! Thanks for coming out to StudioPlex Lofts Market!
